Sometimes you don’t enjoy your job. It’s just an inevitability of life. However, when you don’t enjoy your job for a significant amount of time, you may be considering the possibility that you made the wrong career choice. It’s possible, but it’s much more likely to be your work environment. Still, if you aren’t following the two tips below, you may want to consider some sort of change in your life.
Focus on What You’re Good at
If you’re a particularly gifted writer, then you should be focusing on writing. It’s as simple as that. If you’re doing marketing instead, or somehow you wound up in banking, you may simply be miserable because you’ve chosen the wrong career. You may be even more miserable because you feel like you can’t quit unless you want to lose your life as well, or maybe your family is depending on you for an income. The key to a happy life is hyper focusing on one, specific thing and working within that one thing. Everyone has a thing, and everyone needs to find it.
Work with Those Who Love You, But Challenge You as Well
We can’t all work with our wives and children, but we can choose an office environment that helps us thrive. We can scope out the team we are to work with before we start working with them, and we can see if our personality jives with theirs. Find someone who has a complementary skill set to your own, and ensure they’re hard workers with a good work ethic and a forgiving personality. These people will often push their partner harder than they’re comfortable with so everyone strives harder and longer for success.
